1600.gg is currently operated by James Sheng as an individual (sole proprietorship), pending formation of a limited liability company. References to "we," "us," or "the Company" below mean James Sheng d/b/a 1600.gg, and will transfer to the LLC once formed without changing these terms.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of 1600.gg, including our website, practice platform, courses, subscriptions, and any related services (together, the "Service"). By creating an account, purchasing a course, subscribing to Premium, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
The Service is intended for students preparing for the SAT and is generally used by teenagers. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms and our Privacy Policy on your behalf, and consents to your use of the Service, including any purchase or subscription made through your account.
2. Your Account
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity under your account.
- You must provide a working email address and keep it current, as we use it for sign-in verification and important account notices.
- One account per person. Sharing accounts or account credentials to bypass usage or plan limits is not allowed.
- You can delete your account at any time by contacting us; see Privacy Policy for what happens to your data.
3. Courses, Subscriptions, and Billing
The Service offers one-time course purchases (for example, the Desmos and Grammar courses) and a recurring Premium subscription, both processed through our payment processor, Stripe. We do not store your full card number.
- One-time courses are a single, lifetime-access purchase to that course's content for your account. Course purchases are not subscriptions and do not auto-renew.
- Premium subscription bills on a recurring basis (monthly or the interval you selected at checkout) until you cancel. You can cancel anytime from your account's billing portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep Premium access until then.
- Free trials, when offered, are not charged until the trial period ends. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your card will be charged for the plan you selected.
- Refunds are handled case-by-case. Contact us within 7 days of a charge if something went wrong and we'll make it right; we do not guarantee refunds for partial use of a subscription period or completed course content.
- Prices, discounts, and promotions (including limited-time sale pricing) may change at any time and do not apply retroactively to past purchases.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Scrape, copy, redistribute, or resell any question content, course material, or other content from the Service;
- Circumvent free-plan limits through multiple accounts, automated tools, or credential sharing;
- Interfere with or attempt to disrupt the Service, including through unauthorized access, reverse engineering, or abuse of our APIs;
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in a way that infringes anyone else's rights.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, without refund for the violating conduct where permitted by law.
5. Creator / Affiliate Program
Some users participate in our creator or affiliate program, earning commission on attributed sales. Participation is governed by the specific terms presented when you join that program (including commission rate, attribution window, and payout terms), which are incorporated into these Terms for participants.
6. Intellectual Property
The Service, including all practice questions, explanations, course content, software, and branding, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by copyright and other laws. We grant you a limited, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial SAT preparation. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
7. No Guarantee of Results
We aim to help you improve your SAT performance, but we do not guarantee any specific score, score increase, or admissions outcome. The Service is a study aid, not a substitute for your own effort, school instruction, or professional educational advice.
8. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, with notice where practical. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (billing, intellectual property, disclaimers, liability limits) will survive.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will ask you to re-accept the updated Terms the next time you sign in before you can keep using the Service. Continued use after a non-material update constitutes acceptance.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the Company is organized, without regard to conflict of law principles, except where local consumer protection law provides otherwise. [Placeholder: update once the LLC's state of formation is finalized.]
