1600.gg is currently operated by James Sheng as an individual (sole proprietorship), pending formation of a limited liability company. References to "we," "us," or "the Company" below mean James Sheng d/b/a 1600.gg, and will transfer to the LLC once formed without changing this policy.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information 1600.gg ("we," "us") collects when you use our website and practice platform (the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information: email address, password (stored securely by Firebase Authentication; we never see or store your raw password), display name/username, and optional profile photo.
- Practice and progress data: your mock exam scores, targeted practice answers, error journal entries, skill history, and similar study activity, stored under your account so progress persists across sessions.
- Payment information: when you buy a course or subscribe to Premium, payment is handled entirely by Stripe, our payment processor. We receive confirmation of payment and limited billing metadata (such as your subscription status and a Stripe customer ID). We do not receive or store your full card number.
- Usage and device data: pages visited, general interactions with the Service, browser/device type, and approximate location, collected automatically via Firebase Analytics and the Meta (Facebook/Instagram) Pixel.
- Communications: if you contact us for support, we keep a record of that correspondence.
- Referral/affiliate data: if you sign up through a creator or affiliate link, we record which link or code referred you so we can attribute the signup and, if applicable, any resulting purchase.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the Service: create and secure your account, save your practice progress, and process purchases/subscriptions.
- To communicate with you: sign-in verification codes, password resets, receipts, and service-related notices.
- To improve the Service: understand how features are used and fix problems.
- For marketing: to measure the effectiveness of our ads (via the Meta Pixel) and, where you've opted in, to send occasional product updates or offers. You can opt out of marketing emails at any time.
- To attribute referrals and pay creators/affiliates who refer paying customers.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
3. Who We Share Information With
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers that help us run 1600.gg, and only as needed for them to perform their function:
- Firebase / Google Cloud: authentication, database, hosting, and analytics.
- Stripe: payment processing and subscription billing.
- Meta (Facebook/Instagram): advertising measurement via the Meta Pixel.
- Email delivery provider: sending verification codes and transactional email.
- Creator/affiliate platforms (e.g., our creator program): limited referral and attribution data (such as which code was used and whether a purchase resulted), not your full account details.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of 1600.gg, our users, or the public.
4. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies, localStorage, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences (like dark mode), attribute referral links, and measure ad performance through the Meta Pixel. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling them may break parts of the Service (like staying signed in).
5. Data Retention
We keep your account and practice data for as long as your account is active, so your progress is preserved. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable time, except where we're required to retain records (for example, billing records for tax purposes) or where data has already been aggregated/anonymized.
6. Your Choices and Rights
- Access & correction: update your profile information anytime from Account settings.
- Deletion: email us at roadto1600official@gmail.com to request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Marketing opt-out: unsubscribe links are included in marketing emails.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws like the CCPA (California) or GDPR (EEA/UK), including the right to know what data we hold, request a copy, or object to certain processing. We do not sell personal information as defined by these laws. Contact us to exercise these rights.
7. Children's Privacy
The Service is intended for SAT students, most of whom are teenagers under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian should review this policy and our Terms of Service with you before you create an account. If we learn we've collected information from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will delete it.
8. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards (including Firebase's authentication and database security rules, and Stripe's PCI- compliant payment handling) to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. For material changes, we will ask you to re-accept the updated policy the next time you sign in before you can keep using the Service.
